Laurence Nolleau was born in 1963. She traveled since her youngest age and she discovered the light of Middle East and North Africa. A long stopover in Algeria will create a deep friendly between Laurence's family and Joan Bachs, a spain painter and former curator of the museum of Barcelona. Laurence, aged 6 years is already passionate by drawing. No doubt, this meet will have been decisive in her path.
Her attraction for the art begin with drawing. Back in France, Laurence studied in a double training of stylist-designer in ESMOD Paris where she receives the 3st price of design. She do her first internship with Dior in 1987. Then, she do some missions abroad for Boussac group and works in partnership with french brands like Caviar, Zapa, etc.
In 2002 this is the turning point, Laurence decides to give free rein to his artistic vocation and leave the fashion industry to lock herself in her studio. This is after 8 years of exploration and technique that the artist decide to offer her work at gallerists.
The oil, a revelation, material memory which keep a track of each gesture, which cut and touch the paint on the canvas. Armed with her knife, Laurence sculpt with energy her faces with the aim to give us hard-hitting and graphic artworks. Bright and intense colors, hypnotics eyes, striking portraits : the expressionism takes its full meaning here.
