Benjamin Spark

Pop art Artist

Benjamin Spark

Benjamin Spark is a French-Belgian painter born in Boulogne-Billancourt (France) in 1969. His visual language is freely inspired by art history and popular culture, redeploying canonised styles and genres while borrowing images from the cultural mainstream, as well as from certain subcultures of the 1990s. He wasn't always an artist, having started out at age 25 running a web design company he created with a friend. He decided to give it all up at the age of 30 to take up painting as a self-taught artist. Having first attended master classes in drawing at the famous École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he went to New York to perfect his skills. He then left Paris for good and moved to Brussels in 2006, where he set up his studio in a converted brewery in the city's red light district. From there, he developed his style and began collaborating with French and Belgian art galleries, with his first solo exhibitions in 2009.
